Perfectly located among the fruitful abundance of the Sierra Nevada Foothills, along the stunning John Muir Route, Highway 132 to Yosemite National Park.
This family owned and operated business is spearhead by a husband and wife team. Pastry Chef and Food Chemist Jennifer Zimmerman has an education in Biology/chemistry and 30 years in the Restaurant & Hospitality industry. She overseas the bakery, wedding cakes, catering and cafe operations, handcrafting organic artisanal ancient grain wild yeast breads and french inspired confections. Jennifer heads the kitchen team at Cakewalk creating dreamy and delicious wedding cakes and curating nature inspired catered events throughout the year. She had an uncompromising eye for details including pure, organic, local, non gmo and sustainable ingredients. The bakery, catering and cafe menus highlight fresh innovative locally sourced foods and classics with a twist, while always keeping healthful, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, natural and non toxic in mind. Having traveled the world and lived, studied and worked in France, Africa, New York City and Cape Cod Jennifer brings to the kitchen a unique flair that she adds to each of her creations. Designing recipes from scratch she creates wild yeast breads from freshly milled flours, pastries, breakfast items, sandwiches lunch fare and of course her exquisite wedding cakes and chef plates from fresh ingredients that change with the seasons! Sam Zimmerman bridges the farm to table gap running the daily operations behind the scenes on their organic micro farm & larger flower & organic food farm using closed circle Eden Gardening and Permaculture practices. The gardens and greenhouse boast a fantastic array of heirloom plants and produce. From Exotics like goji berries and cardamom to heirloom fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers of every kind. These two farms sustains daily life and allows the bakery, catering & cafe to feature their organic non-gmo produce, eggs, goat cheese, wedding flowers and love of food on the menu. Foodies at heart this Farmer & Chef team spend off days on the hunt for more unique items to add to the ingredient list. Exciting edibles like pine needle tea, roasted acorn flour and wild berry jams showcase their enthusiasm for wild crafted foods and regional specialties. Sourcing local organic foods to serve always leads to local farms, organic markets and collaborative relationships with like minded producers.
